Three Victoria hospitals voluntarily merge to form Bayside Health

The merger was approved by all service boards in early December and will become effective on January 1, 2026.

The voluntary merger of Alfred Health, Peninsula Health and Kooweerup Regional Health will create Bayside Health and is expected to benefit more than one million residents of Victoria, Australia.

Bayside Health will provide unified access to existing services and plans to expand community participation in clinical trials and health research. It will span Melbourne’s south, Bayside, the Peninsula and Gippsland.

The merger was approved by the boards of all three health services in early December and will be effective from January 1, 2026.

As a first step, Peninsula Health and Kooweerup Regional Health will work together to merge their services.
